Run For Your Life – Book Launch
This event has now passed.
Little Island Books invites you to celebrate the launch of Jane Mitchell’s Run for Your Life.
We are so looking forward to celebrating the publication of Run for Your Life! Join award-winning author Jane Mitchell, Little Island, and Books Upstairs to celebrate the publication of Jane’s moving children’s book exploring Direct Provision, Ireland’s asylum-seeker accommodation system. We are delighted that Colm O’Gorman, Executive Director of Amnesty International Ireland, will be launching the book.
About Jane Mitchell
Jane Mitchell works in disability provision in Ireland. She has written several books for children and young people, which have won awards in Ireland and the UK, including the Bisto Book of the Year and the Children’s Choice award. Her work has been listed on the school curriculum in Ireland and Brazil. A Dangerous Crossing (Little Island), which told the story of Syrian refugees, has sold over 100,000 copies.
Save the Children
We are donating all Little Island profits from the sale of this book to Save the Children, and our Irish Sales Rep has generously declined to take commission on this title in order to allow us to maximise our contribution. Having spoken with Save the Children, we have decided to redirect our donation from the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund to the Children’s Emergency Fund, as they have told us that this is where the contribution will do the most good for Ukranian children who have already fled the country.
Save the Children say:
“Save the Children’s Emergency Fund allows us to respond wherever and whenever we’re needed most. It allows us to respond within hours of a disaster, so we can reach children immediately and help them survive. No matter what the emergency, children always suffer the most. Conflict and natural disasters threaten millions of children’s survival and well-being every year, and the need now is greater than it has ever been.”
